July 21 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 6-0 behind a complete-game shutout from Kyle Hodgson. High Desert collected six hits and held Monterey to three hits while improving its record to 46-18-0; the Amberjacks fell to 36-25-0.
High Desert broke through with one run in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth before breaking the game open with four runs in the seventh. Dillon Fahr went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while D. Reddy scored twice, collected one hit, drew two walks and stole a base. Slayton Vaughan, Hector Morales, Oscar Larranaga, B. Speas and Hodgson each drove in a run. Larranaga also doubled.
Hodgson earned the win by allowing three hits and one walk while striking out seven over seven scoreless innings. Nick Grim took the loss after allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings. Aaron Cook worked the final two innings for Monterey and surrendered four runs, three earned, on two hits and four walks.
