Monterey Amberjacks Defeat High Desert Yardbirds 3-1

July 21 2019 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 3-1 in a seven-inning game. High Desert took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Monterey answered with two runs in the third and added another in the fourth to secure the win. The Amberjacks finished with six hits and no errors while the Yardbirds had three hits and also played error-free baseball.

Brooks Benson led Monterey’s offense by going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. James Prockish and Austin Marcellus each collected a hit, while Morgan Blatnik scored once. Steven Longo also drove in a run. For High Desert, Hector Morales went 1-for-2 with a double and the team’s only RBI. Tommy Anderson and Danny Kerr also recorded hits.

Ashton Holdridge earned the win for Monterey after allowing one run on two hits in six innings. He walked four and struck out five. Ulysses Ramos worked a scoreless seventh inning with one strikeout to earn the save. High Desert starter Harry Ferguson took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings while walking four and striking out four.
