July 22 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated Wasco Reserve 10-5 in 10 innings. High Desert finished with 12 hits and overcame four errors, while Wasco had eight hits and committed two errors.
High Desert scored once in the second inning and added four runs in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead. Wasco answered with five runs in the eighth to tie the game, but the Yardbirds broke through for five runs in the 10th inning to secure the victory. Slayton Vaughan hit a three-run home run in the decisive inning.
Dillon Fahr led High Desert with two hits and three RBI, while Oscar Larranaga drove in two runs. Vaughan finished with one hit and three RBI, and Anthony Ward went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and RBI. Wasco’s Corey Davis Jr. collected three hits, and Darren Love had two hits and two RBI.
John Schulz held Wasco scoreless over seven innings, allowing four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Nico Mayoral was credited with the win after pitching two scoreless innings with one strikeout, according to the game information. Ken Williams worked eight innings for Wasco, allowing seven hits and five runs, one earned, while striking out five. Chris Reyes was charged with the loss after allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings.
