California City Whiptails Rally Past High Desert Yardbirds 11-9

June 17 2018 The California City Whiptails scored four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the High Desert Yardbirds 11-9. California City finished with 12 hits, while High Desert collected 10. The Whiptails led 6-5 after three innings before the Yardbirds moved ahead with a four-run sixth, but California City answered in the eighth to secure the win.

Wardy Polanco went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and an RBI for California City. Eli Roundtree added two hits, including two doubles, with three RBIs, while Nick Snyder was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Johnny Abbaduscky and Peter Pena also homered for the Whiptails.

High Desert was led by Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson, who went 3-for-5 with two home runs, two runs and five RBIs. Ronnie Grant went 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs and two RBIs, and B. Harmon added two hits and a home run.

Tyus Adkins earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and one walk. Albert Neff recorded the save with a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit and striking out two. Cip Garza took the loss for High Desert after allowing three runs and five walks in two-thirds of an inning.
