Yardbirds Cruise Past Whiptails 21-7

July 2 2018 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the California City Whiptails 21-7 at Adelanto Stadium, scoring 21 runs on 23 hits. California City finished with 14 hits and two errors while High Desert committed one error.

High Desert took control with seven runs in the second inning and added five in the third. The Yardbirds scored again in the fourth before breaking the game open with three runs in the sixth and five in the seventh. California City scored twice in the first, twice in the sixth, twice in the seventh and once in the ninth.

Kent Blackstone led High Desert with three hits, six RBI, two runs and a home run. Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson also had three hits, six RBI, one run and a home run. Ronnie Grant went 3-for-6 with three runs and three RBI, while Eric Schneider added three hits, four runs, one RBI and a home run. B. Harmon collected four hits and scored three runs.

Kade Wagner earned the win after allowing nine hits and four earned runs in six innings while striking out nine and walking one. Tomas Gutierrez took the loss for California City, giving up 18 hits and 11 earned runs in six innings with six strikeouts and three walks. Creigton Ubides and Kendall Radcliff combined for the final three innings for High Desert.
