May 30 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Tucson Saguaros 6-2. High Desert scored six runs on six hits and overcame Tucson’s eight-hit attack, with 12 walks helping create its offensive opportunities.
High Desert took control with a three-run fourth inning and added single runs in the seventh eighth and ninth. Tucson scored once in the second and once in the seventh but could not close the gap. D. Reddy led the Yardbirds with two hits and three RBI while Dillon Fahr scored twice and stole two bases. Tucson’s Daniel Diaz went 3-for-5 and Patrick Clifford and Evan Douglas each drove in a run.
Colton Draney earned the win after allowing one earned run on five hits in six innings. He struck out 13 and walked three. John Kopicky and Nate Doiron combined for two scoreless innings before Andrew Cartier worked a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to earn the save.
Will Morris took the loss for Tucson after surrendering three earned runs on four hits in four innings with four walks and four strikeouts. Sean Lubreski added two scoreless innings, but High Desert scored three times against Tucson’s bullpen over the final three innings.
