May 31 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Tucson Saguaros 11-2 after scoring in five consecutive innings from the fifth through the ninth. High Desert finished with 11 hits and one error while Tucson collected five hits and committed no errors.
Tucson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Yardbirds tied the game in the fifth and moved ahead with another run in the sixth. High Desert broke the game open with five runs in the seventh, then added two runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings.
Daniel Anciso drove in three runs on two hits, while Nico Maldonado went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Slayton Vaughan also homered and added an RBI. D. Reddy reached base six times with three hits and three walks, scored twice and stole four bases. Hector Morales contributed a home run and two RBI.
Jacob Rosales earned the win after allowing three hits and one unearned run over six innings with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Joey Macaluso allowed one earned run in two innings and John Schulz finished with a scoreless ninth. Michael Klein took the loss for Tucson after allowing two runs in five innings, while Austin Cooper surrendered five runs in two innings.
