June 8 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers rallied for a 6-5 victory over the High Desert Yardbirds, overcoming a three-run deficit with four runs across the eighth and ninth innings. Bakersfield collected 12 hits and scored twice in the eighth before adding two more in the ninth to secure the win at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. High Desert finished with 10 hits and two errors, while Bakersfield had 12 hits and two errors.
Marcos Figueroa led the Train Robbers offensively, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs while hitting two home runs. Karlos Joseph added a two-base hit and drove in two runs as a pinch-hitter, and Darian Fleming contributed a hit and an RBI. For High Desert, Anthony Ward went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a triple, while Dillon Fahr went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
High Desert scored twice in the second, once in the third and twice in the sixth to build a 5-2 lead. Bakersfield starter Garrett Alvarez worked six innings, allowing nine hits and five runs, four earned, with eight strikeouts. Darian Fleming followed with 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two, before Sergio Valenzuela recorded the final out for the win. Andrew Mclaughlin held Bakersfield to two runs over five innings and struck out six for High Desert, but Nate Doiron took the loss after Bakersfield scored twice in the ninth.
