June 11 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 17-12 in a high-scoring game at Adelanto Stadium. High Desert collected 23 hits and scored in seven innings, including a five-run fourth and three-run innings in both the sixth and eighth. Monterey finished with 17 hits and closed the scoring with four runs in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.
Daniel Anciso led the Yardbirds’ offensive attack with four hits, two home runs and eight RBI. Danny Kerr added five hits and three runs, while Slayton Vaughan and Anthony Ward each had three hits. Daniel Gardner scored twice and had two hits, and Dillon Fahr drove in two runs. Anciso’s two homers accounted for High Desert’s only home runs of the game.
Monterey was paced by Coleman Poje and Morgan Blatnik with three hits apiece. Poje drove in four runs and hit a home run, while Thomas Prospero added two hits, two RBI and a home run. James Prockish had two hits and one RBI, and Griffin Barnes contributed two hits and two RBI.
Kyle Hodgson was credited with the win for High Desert after allowing six hits and five earned runs over four innings while striking out six and walking one. High Desert used five pitchers and finished with 12 strikeouts. Jonathan Vance took the loss for Monterey, surrendering 18 hits and 14 runs, 13 earned, in six innings with six strikeouts and one walk.
