High Desert Yardbirds Edge Wasco Reserve 2-1

June 12 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated Wasco Reserve 2-1 in a tightly contested game. High Desert scored once in the third inning and added the go-ahead run in the seventh, while Wasco answered with its lone run in the seventh. The Yardbirds finished with seven hits and one error, while Wasco collected five hits and committed six errors.

Danny Kerr went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for High Desert. Daniel Anciso also had two hits in five at-bats, including a double, and Harry Ferguson contributed a hit. Scott Martinez led Wasco with two hits, while Ethan Skowronski and Konosuke Kawagishi each added one hit.

Harry Ferguson earned the win after allowing one run on five hits over 6.1 innings, striking out nine and walking three. Evan Bell recorded the save with a scoreless ninth inning, and Austin Brown and Nate Doiron combined to complete the Yardbirds’ three-runner relief effort. Dmitry Shtykher took the loss for Wasco despite allowing only one earned run on four hits over six innings, with five strikeouts and two walks.
