High Desert Yardbirds Crush California City 19-4

June 15 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds scored in each of the first four innings and defeated the California City Whiptails 19-4. High Desert collected 16 hits and took control with a nine-run first inning before adding two runs in the second two in the third and six in the fourth. California City scored twice in the second and twice in the ninth but could not overcome the early deficit.

Oscar Larranaga led the Yardbirds with four hits four RBI and three runs scored including a home run. Aiden Brook added three hits two runs and five RBI with two home runs. Daniel Gardner and Hector Morales each had two hits while Gardner drove in two runs and Morales scored three times with two RBI. Slayton Vaughan and Ed Milian each contributed two RBI.

Jacob Rosales earned the win with a complete-game effort. He allowed eight hits and four runs while walking two and striking out nine over nine innings. Rosales also had one hit and drove in a run. J. Washington followed with 4.1 scoreless innings for California City while allowing two hits and striking out five.

California City received two hits each from Ben Tingen and I. Santos. Brian Rosensteel took the loss after allowing 14 hits and 19 runs 18 earned in 3.2 innings with six walks and one strikeout. The Whiptails committed four errors while the Yardbirds played errorless defense.
