June 17 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds scored in four of the first six innings and defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 12-5. High Desert collected 11 hits and took control with three runs in the first inning and four more in the second to build a 7-1 lead. The Yardbirds added two runs in the fourth and three in the sixth before Monterey scored four runs over the final three innings.
Oscar Larranaga led High Desert with two hits, six RBI and a home run. Danny Kerr went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two walks, while Slayton Vaughan scored four runs and finished with two hits and two walks. Hector Morales added a triple and two RBI, and Daniel Gardner scored twice and drove in a run.
Harry Ferguson earned the win after allowing 11 hits and three runs over seven innings. He walked one and struck out six. A. Cartier and Evan Bell each worked one inning in relief. Monterey received a three-hit performance from Coleman Poje, while Nathaniel Thompson, Morgan Blatnik, Brooks Benson and Thomas Prospero each had two hits. Conyal Cody took the loss for the Amberjacks after allowing three runs in one inning.
