Tucson Saguaros Defeat High Desert Yardbirds 9-7

June 28 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 9-7 after scoring in three consecutive innings from the fourth through the seventh. Tucson took a 5-0 lead in the fourth, added two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh before holding High Desert scoreless in the ninth.

Caleb Wichman hit a home run and drove in two runs for Tucson while J. Garnett and E. Zorilla also homered. Garnett finished with two RBI and Daniel Diaz added one RBI. High Desert answered with four runs in the sixth and three in the eighth, but Tommy Anderson led the Yardbirds with four hits and a run driven in. Daniel Gardner added two hits, two runs, two RBI and a home run.

Robby Medel earned the win for Tucson after allowing seven hits and four runs, two earned, in six innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Sean Lubreski pitched two innings and Joe Rivera closed the game with a scoreless ninth to earn the save. High Desert starter John Kopicky struck out six over six innings and allowed seven runs, two earned, on two hits, while Joey Macaluso took the loss.
