Tucson Saguaros Beat High Desert Yardbirds 8-6

June 30 2019 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the High Desert Yardbirds 8-6 after scoring five runs in the first inning and holding off a late High Desert rally. Tucson finished with eight hits and two errors, while High Desert collected 10 hits and committed one error.

Tyler Daugherty earned the win for Tucson after allowing six hits and three runs, two earned, in six innings. He walked two and struck out five. Joe Rivera worked a scoreless ninth inning to record the save, while John Schulz took the loss for High Desert after allowing two runs in 1.1 innings.

Daugherty also delivered the key offensive performance for Tucson, going 1-for-2 with a double and four RBI. J. Garnett hit a solo home run, scored twice and drove in one run, while Michael Klein added a pinch-hit home run and an RBI. Lawrence Chavez contributed one hit, one run and one RBI.

High Desert scored one run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before pulling within two with a two-run seventh and a run in the eighth. D. Reddy went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base, while Daniel Gardner and Slayton Vaughan each collected two hits. Tucson added two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to maintain the lead.
