July 5 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 15-1 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark, collecting 16 hits in the victory. Bakersfield managed six hits and committed 10 errors in the loss.
High Desert scored three runs in the first inning and added another in the third before breaking the game open with five runs in the sixth. The Yardbirds added two runs in the seventh, one in the eighth and three in the ninth, while Bakersfield’s only run came in the first inning.
Danny Kerr led the Yardbirds’ offensive attack with two home runs, four hits and five RBI. Daniel Gardner went 4-for-6 with two RBI, while D. Reddy and Oscar Larranaga each collected two hits. Jacob Rosales also contributed a double and drove in two runs.
Rosales earned the win after allowing five hits and one run over seven innings while striking out nine and issuing no walks. Joey Macaluso pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Bakersfield starter Edilson Alvarez took the loss after allowing 16 hits and 15 runs, seven earned, over nine innings with nine strikeouts and two walks.
