July 10 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds scored in five of the first six innings and defeated the Tucson Saguaros 9-2. High Desert collected 10 hits and built a 7-0 lead through four innings, scoring four times in the first, twice in the second and once each in the third and fourth. Tucson answered with one run in the fourth and one in the seventh but could not close the gap.
Daniel Gardner led the Yardbirds with three hits and two runs, while Danny Kerr went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Tommy Anderson added two hits and two RBI. Dillon Fahr scored twice, and D. Reddy, Slayton Vaughan and Anthony Ward also drove in runs. Tucson received two hits from Caleb Wichman, who scored once, while Evan Douglas and Nick Diaz each recorded an RBI.
John Kopicky earned the win after allowing five hits and two earned runs in seven innings. He walked six and struck out four before John Schulz and A. Cartier combined for two scoreless innings to finish the game. Tucson starter Joe Lewis took the loss after surrendering seven runs, five earned, on four hits in three innings, with four walks and five strikeouts. High Desert committed one error compared with four for Tucson.
