High Desert Yardbirds Rally Past Wasco Reserve 8-5

July 15 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated Wasco Reserve 8-5 after collecting 10 hits and scoring six runs in the fourth inning. Wasco opened with a run in the first, but High Desert answered in the second and third innings before breaking the game open in the fourth. Wasco added three runs in the fourth and one in the seventh, but could not complete the comeback.

Daniel Gardner led the Yardbirds with a home run, four RBI and one run scored. Slayton Vaughan went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and one RBI, while Ed Milian had two hits. High Desert also received doubles from Dillon Fahr and Tommy Anderson.

John Kopicky earned the win after allowing four earned runs on nine hits in six innings. He walked four and struck out six, throwing 121 pitches with 70 strikes. John Schulz worked a scoreless-free? inning? No, Schulz allowed one run on one hit in the seventh inning.

Wasco also finished with 10 hits, led by Justin Crider and Austin Hoffman with two hits apiece. Corey Davis Jr. hit a home run and drove in three runs, while Ethan Skowronski also homered and Austin Hoffman added an RBI. Alex Hernandez took the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned, on seven hits in 3.1 innings.
