July 15 2019 The Bakersfield Train Robbers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 13th inning to defeat the High Desert Yardbirds 7-6. Bakersfield collected 16 hits and overcame a one-run deficit after High Desert scored in the top half of the 13th. The Yardbirds finished with eight hits and no errors while the Train Robbers committed one error.
High Desert scored twice in the fourth and three times in the seventh to build a 5-4 lead, but Bakersfield answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh before the teams traded runs in the 13th. Evan Hirschbaum led the Train Robbers with four hits, two runs and one RBI. Luis Alvarado and Noah Etheridge added three hits apiece, while McGowan went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two walks. For High Desert, Dillon Fahr had two hits, two runs and a double, and Hector Morales delivered a triple and two RBI.
Darian Fleming earned the win for Bakersfield after allowing one run on no hits with one walk in one inning. Spencer Backstrom struck out five in two scoreless innings, and Esteban Alvarez added four strikeouts in two scoreless innings. High Desert starter Joey Macaluso took the loss despite striking out six in 6.2 innings; he allowed six hits and three earned runs with two walks. The game featured 32 combined strikeouts and lasted 13 innings.
